Donald Sassoon was born in Cairo and educated in Paris, Milan, London, and the United States. He is an emeritus professor of comparative European history at Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London. He is the author of several books, including Contemporary Italy: Politics, Economy and Society Since 1945.
